Angelo State Qualifies 18 Athletes for National Track Meet

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University track and field program has qualified 18 athletes for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this month.

The No. 7-ranked Rams are sending eight athletes, while the No. 17-ranked Rambelles qualified 10 athletes.

To qualify for the national meet, athletes must reach a provisional standard established for each event. The top 22 entrants are then selected, along with the top 16 relays. The top 16 heptathletes and decathletes are also chosen.

The national meet will be held May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colorado.

ASU’s qualifiers include:

Men (with event and national rank)

  • Oleg Ananev, pole vault, 2nd
  • Rami Balti, 400, 5th
  • Antonio Blair, 800, 8th
  • Josh Body, triple jump, 10th
  • Mark Burdin, decathlon, 5th
  • Solomon Odonkor, 100, 1st; 200, 8th
  • 4x400 relay, 5th

Women (with event and national rank)

  • Federica Dozio, javelin, 5th
  • Fedra Florentin, shot put, 16th
  • Kylie Frush, heptathlon, 16th
  • Shackelia Green, 400 hurdles, 16th
  • Tiamara Hill-Johnson, discus, 19th
  • Kylylie Paden, pole vault, 17th
  • Esma Pajt, hammer throw, 19th
  • Marie Schuler, hammer throw, 3rd
  • Maricia Spence, 100 hurdles, 21st; heptathlon, 7th
  • Kamryn Williams, discus, 22nd
