Cowboys Set to Play NFL Powerhouse on Thanksgiving Day

DALLAS, TX— The 2025 NFL schedule is being released tonight, but the Dallas Cowboys already have dates for at least two opponents.

Fans have known who their teams will play in advance, but they don’t know the schedule of when their team will play until the schedule release. The Dallas Cowboys are kicking off the NFL season against the defending Super Bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, fans have learned that the Cowboys will have another powerhouse game on their annual Thanksgiving Day game in the Kansas City Chiefs.

That’s right, the Cowboys will play the Chiefs on Nov. 27 at 3:25 p.m.

The last time we saw the Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes was running for his life from the Eagles' front seven in the Super Bowl, which the Chiefs lost, 40-22. The game wasn’t that close until the final minutes of the fourth quarter. The Chiefs were down 40-6 until Mahomes found DeAndre Hopkins for a touchdown with 2:54 left in the game, then hit Xavier Worthy for a 50-yard touchdown with 1:48 remaining.

The Eagles dominated the first half, scoring three touchdowns and making one field goal, shutting out the Chiefs until the last minute in the third quarter.

One thing the Eagles did was send the dogs at Mahomes and the Kansas City offense, ending up with six sacks, six tackles for loss, and two interceptions, one of which was returned by Cooper DeJean for a touchdown.

To fix this, the Chiefs traded for offensive lineman Joe Thuney for a fourth-round pick. Kansas City also drafted Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 2025 Dallas Cowboys might be the Chiefs' kryptonite as new head coach Brian Schottenheimer is dead set on running the football, keeping Mahomes, Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, and the rest of the Chiefs' offense on the sideline. The Dallas defense also held on to defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, who put up good numbers last season. The Cowboys also of course have Micah Parsons and drafted Boston College’s edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku to send after Mahomes.

The 2025 NFL schedule release happens at 7 p.m. tonight.
