MILLSAP, TX — Brady High School became the Concho Valley’s first 7 on 7 football state qualifier over the weekend.
The Bulldogs went undefeated at a qualifying tournament in Millsap to punch their ticket to the state tournament for the fourth time in school history.
Brady also advanced last year to the state tournament, where the Bulldogs won two games.
This year’s tournament will be held June 26-28 at Veterans Memorial Park in College Station.
There are 32 teams that will qualify in Division III, which includes schools from Class 1A to 3A Division II. The only other three schools to lock up spots so far are Kountze, Grapeland and Hamilton.
There will also be a 32-team field in Division II, which consists of 3A Division I and 4A schools, along with some private schools.
Division I includes 5A and 6A, along with high-level private schools, and will feature a 64-team field.
Last year, four West Texas schools – Brady, Sonora, Miles and Iraan - represented our area at state.
