Texas Tech Softball One Win Away From First World Series

TALLAHASSEE, FL— The Texas Tech softball team is one win away from its first-ever trip to the College World Series after a historic 3-0 victory over Florida State on Thursday in their Super Regional matchup.

The No. 12-ranked Red Raiders' win over No. 5 Forida State continued their incredible run this season, which included their first conference title, first regional title and first trip to the Super Regional round.

Texas Tech beat Mississippi State 9-6 in the regional final last week.

NiJaree Canady was on fire Thursday as she only needed 79 pitches to complete the shutout, her sixth of the season. She, along with Alana Johnson, also added home runs in the opener.

Texas Tech will play Florida State again at 2 p.m. Friday. If-necessary, a winner-take-all Game 3 will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday.
