CHICAGO, IL — Davis Martin is continuing to turn in strong outings for the Chicago White Sox, even if he isn’t being rewarded with many wins.
The former San Angelo Central fired six innings of two-run ball while allowing only four hits Sunday against the Texas Rangers.
Martin left the game with a 3-2 lead before the Rangers rallied in the ninth inning to steal a 5-4 win.
Martin still has a 2-5 record this season while playing for one of the league’s worst teams, but he’s put together some impressive numbers.
In his last 20 innings, Martin has allowed a combined five runs.
On the year, Martin has a 3.45 ERA through 11 starts — which puts him in the top third of the league among starting pitchers — and he has completed six innings in six of those outings.
It’s shaping up to be the best season of Martin’s young career. The 28-year-old broke into the majors in 2022 before missing all of 2023 due to Tommy John surgery.
Martin’s next start is scheduled for Saturday at Baltimore.
