San Angelo’s Davis Martin Has Breakout Season Paused Due to Injury

CHICAGO, IL — Former San Angelo Central star Davis Martin, who is in the midst of his best season with the Chicago White Sox, has been placed on the injured list due to an issue with his throwing arm.

Martin was scratched from his scheduled start Friday against Toronto and hit the 15-day injured list because of a right forearm strain.

Martin missed the entire 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery on his right shoulder before returning last season to throw 50 innings.

The 28-year-old began this season as the No. 3 pitcher in the White Sox rotation, and he has been a bright spot for one of the league’s worst teams.

In 80.2 innings, he has pitched to a 3.79 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP, though he has managed only two wins while receiving little run support.

The White Sox are hopeful that Martin’s current injury is only a temporary setback.

Martin is a graduate of San Angelo Central High School and later helped Texas Tech reach the College World Series.

He is just the third San Angelo Central player to reach the majors.
