Former San Angelo Central Star Martin to Begin Rehab Assignment

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Chicago White Sox pitcher Davis Martin, who has been on the injured list since June 20 with forearm soreness, is reporting to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday to begin an injury rehab assignment.

The former San Angelo Central High School star is having his best season in the majors since being drafted in the 14th round out of Texas Tech in 2018.

Martin has posted a 3.79 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP with 53 strikeouts and 19 walks through 80.2 innings in his third season.

Martin hasn’t pitched since June 12 against the Houston Astros.

The 28-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery in 2023 and returned late last season. He began this season as Chicago’s No. 3 starter.

After planned outings Wednesday and Sunday for Charlotte, Martin is expected to rejoin the White Sox after the All-Star break next week.
