Texas Picked to Win SEC Title, 13 Named to Preseason All-SEC Team

 

AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Longhorns have been selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2025 SEC Championship and landed 13 players on the Preseason All-SEC Team, the conference announced Friday at SEC Media Days.

Texas garnered 96 votes to win the SEC title, edging out Georgia (44), Alabama (29), and LSU (20). The Longhorns also led the predicted order of finish with 3,060 total points.

Five Longhorns earned First-Team All-SEC recognition, including junior running back Quintrevion Wisner, senior offensive lineman DJ Campbell, sophomore EDGE Colin Simmons, junior linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., and senior defensive back Michael Taaffe.

Wisner returns as the SEC’s top rusher after totaling 1,064 yards in 2024. Hill, Muhammad, Moore, and Stone earned Preseason All-SEC honors for the second straight year.

Texas opens the 2025 season on the road at Ohio State on Saturday, Aug. 30, with kickoff set for 11 a.m. CT. The matchup will be televised nationally on FOX as part of Big Noon Kickoff, and ESPN’s College GameDay will broadcast live from the Ohio State campus. The show will serve as longtime analyst Lee Corso’s final appearance before retirement.
