Texas Tech to Face LSU in US Coast to Coast Challenge at Dickies Arena

LUBBOCK, TX — Texas Tech will return to Dickies Arena in Fort Worth this December to face LSU in the US Coast to Coast Challenge, the program announced Sunday.

The Red Raiders and Tigers will meet Sunday, December 7, in Fort Worth for the fifth annual event. Game time and television coverage will be announced later. Following the Texas Tech matchup, the showcase will also feature TCU against North Texas.

Tickets in the Texas Tech allotment go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Thursday. A presale will be available beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday for Red Raider Club members and basketball season ticket holders. Fans will receive purchase links directly from the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office.

Texas Tech holds a 6-3 edge in the all-time series with LSU, including a 76-68 road win in Baton Rouge on Jan. 28, 2023, during the Big 12-SEC Challenge. The teams have never met on a neutral court. Their series dates back to 1957, when the Red Raiders won the first meeting 79-72.

LSU went 14-18 last season and finished 3-15 in the SEC. The Tigers earned wins over Kansas State and UCF, two Big 12 programs. Head coach Matt McMahon, entering his fourth season at LSU, is 45-53 with the Tigers and 199-120 overall in his career.

The Red Raiders will play at Dickies Arena for the third consecutive season. They defeated Vanderbilt there in 2023 before falling to Texas A&M last year. Texas Tech is 1-2 overall at the Fort Worth venue, which also hosted a 2020 nonconference loss to Houston.

Texas Tech finished 28-9 last season, placing second in the Big 12 at 15-5. The Red Raiders earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, tying the program’s best, and advanced to their third Elite Eight. Under head coach Grant McCasland, Tech is 51-20 with back-to-back tournament appearances.
