GREEN BAY, WI — Bad news, Cowboys fans. Three-time All-Pro Linebacker Micah Parsons has been traded from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers.
The trade includes a new contract for Parsons, the only thing Dallas' star wanted from the Cowboys.
Parsons signed a massive four-year, $188 million contract, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. The deal includes $136 million guaranteed. He will get $62 million this season.
In the trade, Dallas is reportedly receiving two first-round draft picks and three-time Pro Bowler Kenny Clark.
No one who is part of the Cowboys' fandom welcomes this news. In the same year that the people of Dallas lost former Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers, it seems like stubborn negotiating tactics soured another relationship with one of Dallas' superstars.
Parsons joins the youngest team in the league this season. The Packers finished with an 11-6 record last season and a first-round exit in the playoffs. Green Bay fell to the eventual Super Bowl Champion, Philadelphia Eagles, in the Wild Card Round.
Dallas looks to pick up the pieces and move forward two weeks out from kickoff. The Cowboys did make some roster additions this summer. Most notably, former Pittsburgh Steeler star George Pickens will line up alongside CeeDee Lamb on offense this season.
