PHILADELPHIA, PA — Punishment has come down for the Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman who spit on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott last week.
On Thursday, Sept. 4, after the opening kickoff of the first game of the 2025 NFL season, Philadelphia's Jalen Cater walked up to the Cowboys huddle and spit on Prescott. The ref watched the interaction and immediately threw a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct, and Cater was ejected from the game.
For this disgusting act, Carter has been fined by the NFL and suspended, sort of.
The NFL has fined Carter $57,222 and determined his one-game suspension has already been served since he was ejected from the game before playing a snap.
Delusional Eagles fans on X (Twitter) are trying to justify Carter’s actions saying that Prescott spit first and provoked Carter by smiling at him.
Prescott did spit first … on the ground, behind two offensive linemen, and 10 feet away from Carter. Ignorant fans are also saying Prescott said, “Your boy died," recalling a January 2023 car crash that killed Georgia football player Devin Willock and staff member Chandler LeCroy. Carter was not in the vehicle but was racing the two.
Carter pled no contest to misdemeanor charges of reckless driver and racing. He received 12 months probation, a $1,000 fine, and 80 hours of community service.
Thing is, fans can only read lips and since the spitting incident, not one person has come out and said Prescott did in fact say, “Your boy died."
Reportedly, Carter thought Prescott spit at him and said, “You spit at me?” to which Prescott replied, ‘Why would I spit at you?” Remember, Carter was not in the Eagles huddle and was about two yards on the Cowboys side of the ball. Prescott was behind two offensive lineman and 3 to 4 yards away from Carter when he spit on the ground. Carter is also a grown man.
Without Carter, the Eagles gave up 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns and, even though the Eagles did win, his selfish actions hurt his team.
The Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) play the Kansas City Chiefs (0-1), on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 3:25 p.m., and the Dallas Cowboys (0-1) play the New York Giants (0-1) on Sunday at noon.
