OZONA, TX — On the same day he was honored with a statewide award, Ozona running back Christian Villarreal delivered the best performance of his career.
Villarreal had 18 carries for 450 rushing yards and four touchdowns Friday in a 68-19 win over Harper.
The incredible performance pushed his total rushing yardage this season to 1,424 yards after only four games.
Villarreal was presented with the Built Ford Tough Player of the Week award earlier Friday for his 371-yard rushing performance in the season opener against McCamey.
With the win over Harper, Ozona improved to 4-0 and debuted at No. 9 in the Class 2A Division I state rankings.
The Lions also had a strong performance from Graciana Garcia, who had three catches for 163 yards and two TDs, along with an interception on defense.
Quarterback Michael Preddy was 6-of-10 passing for 175 yards and two TDs. Jay Borrego added eight carries for 91 yards and two TDs.
Kaleb Ramon had a team-high 17 tackles, while JP Garza had 11 tackles and three tackles for loss.
Ozona will play again Friday at Miles.
