COLLEGE STATION, TX — Texas A&M just keeps on winning, and the Aggies’ surprise start has them all the way up to No. 3 in this week’s AP national rankings.
It’s the Aggies’ highest ranking since 1995, when they began the season No. 3.
This year’s team started out at No. 19 before winning seven games in a row to make a steady climb up the rankings.
A&M is now behind only No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana.
While other schools from Texas came into the season with more hype, the Aggies have been the state’s best team so far this fall.
The preseason No. 1, Texas, is down to No. 22, while Texas Tech suffered its first loss last week to Arizona State to fall from No. 7 to No. 14.
The Aggies had to survive a 45-42 win on the road over Arkansas last week. They also have wins over Florida, Mississippi State, Auburn, Notre Dame, Utah State and UTSA.
A&M has some big games looming, including a trip to No. 20 LSU at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Aggies are the only undefeated team left in the SEC and one of six undefeated teams in the nation. It’s their first 7-0 start since 1994.
