No. 19 Angelo State Routs Sul Ross State

ALPINE, TX — The No. 19 Angelo State Rams left no doubt Saturday night, overwhelming Sul Ross State in a 62–0 rout to secure their second consecutive Lone Star Conference shutout victory.

The Rams (6–2, 4–2 LSC) dominated in all three phases — offense, defense, and special teams — to record their largest margin of victory this season and their first road shutout since 2022.

Angelo State wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard as Jayden Jones finished the opening drive with a 10-yard rushing touchdown. The Rams quickly doubled their lead when Athen Dominguez blocked a punt, and then recovered by Demetrias Charles at the four-yard line. Two plays later, quarterback Braden Fuller found Corey Sandolph in the back of the end zone for a 14–0 lead.

In the second quarter, a 25-yard burst from Cameron Dischler set up Jones’ second score of the night. Fuller then connected with Anthony Jones on a 62-yard bomb before Jones found the end zone again for his third touchdown. Kaeden Smith added a 5-yard scoring run just before halftime, sending ASU into the locker room with a commanding 35–0 advantage.

Backup quarterback Ayden Arp took over in the second half and kept the momentum rolling. He opened the third quarter with a touchdown pass to Dorian Morris down the left sideline, then hit Hunter Wallis for back-to-back touchdown receptions of 31 and 22 yards.

In the final frame, Ashton Dickens closed out the scoring, carrying the ball on all 10 plays of the Rams’ final drive and finishing with his first collegiate touchdown.

The Angelo State defense was relentless, holding the Lobos (0–8, 0–6 LSC) to just 205 total yards and forcing multiple three-and-outs. Sul Ross never advanced beyond the ASU 35-yard line.

The shutout marked the Rams’ second of the season and their fourth game holding opponents under 10 points.

Angelo State will look to build on its momentum next week as it travels to Ellensburg, Washington, for a high-stakes conference clash against Central Washington. This matchup will have major postseason implications, and is a game that is a must-win for Angelo State.
