Lake View’s Izaiah Rios Named Co-MVP of District

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Lake View running back Izaiah Rios was named Co-MVP of District 3-4A Division I, sharing the honors with Andrews RB JaeSean DeBouse.

Rios had a stellar senior season with 158 carries for 1,495 yards and 19 touchdowns in 11 games. He also added 36 catches for 339 yards and three TDs.

He helped lead the Chiefs to their winningest season in 29 years as they finished with a 7-4 record. Lake View came up just short in a 35-28 loss to Andrews in the district-title game.

The Chiefs’ season ended with a 52-14 loss to Lampasas in the first round of the playoffs.

Lake View also had the district’s Offensive MVP in quarterback Chris Alvizo, who threw for 2,845 yards and 37 touchdowns with nine interceptions on 242-of-344 passing.

Lake View’s Misael Rodelo was named a Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year, while Conner Williams was a Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year.

First-team all-district selections for Lake View was highlighted by Braylon White, who earned honors as a wide receiver and defensive back. White had 66 catches for 882 yards and 13 TDs.

Another first-team all-district receiver was Nick Leyva, who had 45 catches for 608 yards and two TDs.

Other first-team honorees included offensive linemen Marcus Aguilar and Sebastian Heredia, defensive lineman James Hogeda, linebackers Isaac Monreal and Juan Ramirez, and defensive back Cristian Esparza.

Abraham Pena was a first-team utility pick at running back and linebacker.

Second-team picks included running back/linebacker Evan Gallegos, wide receivers Chris Rodela and DJ Munoz, offensive linemen Ty Skelton and Jay Roman, defensive lineman Tyrone Turner and defensive back Roman Garcia.

Andrews linebacker Samuel Saldivar was named the district’s Defensive MVP. Pecos running back Amare Griffin was named the Newcomer of the Year. Andrews earned Coaching Staff of the Year.
