No. 2 Wall Claims Shut Out in Area Round Win Over Childress

SNYDER, TX — The No. 2 Wall Hawks traveled to Snyder on Thursday, Nov. 20, to face off with the Childress Bobcats in the Area Round of the 2025 Playoffs. Wall's defense dominated early, and the offense scored freely throughout as Wall claimed a shutout, 50-0, win over the Bobcats.

Wall's defense showed up big early in the ball game as the Hawks forced two turnovers on Childress's opening two possessions to begin the game. The first, a bad snap, put the ball on the turf, and the Hawks dove on the loose football. One play later, quarterback Landon York hit Reid Robertson for a touchdown.

Minutes later, Hagyn Barbee came unblocked on a blitz and forced a fumble on the ensuing sack. Wall collected its second takeaway and handed the ball back to the offense. The Hawks' O thanked the defense with a 10-yard run from Brady Neal to put Wall up 13-0 with 9 minutes left in the 1st quarter.

Wall continued to dominate on defense, forcing several punts in a row to round out the first half. Each time, the Hawks' offense responded with points. Landon York had a touchdown up the middle to round out the first quarter, before Hagyn Barbee and Jacob Braden added two more touchdowns to end the half. Both teams headed to the locker room with the Hawks up 33-0.

Childress recovered an onside kick to open up the second half, but the Hawks overcame the mental slip-up with an interception by Levi King mere seconds later. Wall would score quickly after that. The Hawks drove the ball inside the 10-yard line thanks to a 30-yard run from Brady Neal. York hit Evan Boehle for a 3-yard touchdown pass to make the score 40-0.

Wall forced another punt before York proved he also had some wheels hidden away. Wall's QB1 rarely runs the ball, but on this particular drive, he had a highlight-worthy play. York pulled the ball from the running back and made it outside the line before sprinting 87 yards to the house. Wall led 47-0 midway through the 3rd quarter.

The Hawks would score one final time before the final buzzer. A field goal from Tyler Klinesmith polished off a 50-point performance by Wall's offense. The backups came in to drain the remaining time off the clock, and Wall claimed an Area Championship, 50-0.

Wall plays next Friday, Nov. 27, in Sweetwater at the Mustang Bowl at 1 p.m. The Hawks will play the winner of Slayton and Merkel.
