San Angelo Angler Sets Junior Record at Lake Nasworthy

SAN ANGELO, TX — A young San Angelo angler broke the junior record at Lake Nasworthy recently for flathead catfish.

Major Hopper, who is 15 years old, reeled in a 25.45-pound flathead, shattering the previous record set last year by 14 pounds.

The massive fish, which was also 38 inches in length, was released back into the lake for another fisherman to try and catch.

The record is pending until it’s reviewed for official certification.

The lake’s overall record for flathead catfish is 51.55 pounds, which was set earlier this year by Cody Gift.
