LAS VEGAS, NV — San Angelo tie-down roper Ty Harris had a second-place showing Friday during Round 9 of the National Finals Rodeo.
Harris had a time of 7.1 seconds to finish just 0.1 seconds behind Montana’s Haven Meged for the win.
Harris earned $28,980 for his performance, helping salvage what has been a rough NFR for him in his seventh straight appearance in Las Vegas.
Harris moved from 13th to ninth in the overall standings with season earnings of $205,746.98.
San Angelo’s other two cowboys, Joel Harris and Dylan Hancock, each failed to finish in the money Friday.
Joel Harris remains in fourth place with $313,495.06. Hancock is still in sixth at $248,540.49.
Denton’s Riley Webb locked up the title with a third-place performance Friday. He now has $439,625,60 and can’t be caught by second-place Shad Mayfield of Clovis, New Mexico. Mayfield has $388,930.78.
Regardless of what happens in the final round Saturday, Joel Harris will finish no worse than fourth in the overall standings, but he can move up to third with one more finish in the money if he fares better than Kincade Henry.
Joel Harris has had two wins and three runner-up finishes so far at this year’s finals.
