SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State University baseball team will begin the 2026 season ranked No. 11 in the country in NCAA Division II by diviibaseball.com.
The Rams are coming off a 48-10 season last year, which ended in the Super Regionals against UT Tyler. It was the first time ASU failed to reach the College World Series since the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID.
The last time the Rams didn’t advance to the World Series in a full season before last year was 2019.
ASU lost some key players from last year’s team, including two NCAA Division I transfers — Dax Dathe (LSU) and Ryan Free (Texas Tech).
The Rams will again be led by longtime head coach Kevin Brooks.
Though ASU is the defending Lone Star Conference champion, the Rams were narrowly picked to finish second this year behind UT Tyler in the LSC preseason poll.
ASU will open the season on the road with a three-game series against UT Permian Basin on Jan. 30.
The Rams’ first home appearance will be a big one, a three-game set against UT Tyler that begins at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6.
