SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State softball team is home for the first time in 2026 this weekend when the Rambelles host the George and Ola McCorkle Challenge presented by West Texas Steel.
This year’s event holds special significance after Ola McCorkle passed away on Dec. 23, 2025, at the age of 81.
Ola’s husband, George, preceded her in death in 2012.
The two were longtime supporters of ASU softball and known as the team’s biggest fans.
Tournament passes are available for $25 and give you admission to all 11 games this weekend at Mayer Softball Field, which is located on Victory Lane just off Johnson Street. Single-game adult and youth tickets are available for $10 and $8, respectively.
The No. 13-ranked Rambelles swept all five of their games last week at the DII First Pitch Invitational in Conroe with wins over Southeastern Oklahoma, Simon Fraser, Mississippi College, Saint Martin’s and Chadron State.
This weekend, they’re set to face Missouri Western at 3:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a 5:45 p.m. game against Ouachita Baptist on Friday.
They’ll play the same two teams Saturday at 1:15 p.m. (Missouri Western) and 3:30 p.m. (Ouachita Baptist).
ASU will conclude the event with a 2:15 p.m. game Sunday against Texas A&M International.
