Lake View Football Standouts Receiving College Offers

SAN ANGELO, TX — After their breakout football season last fall, a few of the Lake View Chiefs’ top players are receiving some college interest.

Offensive lineman Jay Roman leads the way with offers from six schools — Nelson University, Southwestern, Mary Hardin Baylor, Ottawa University Arizona, Graceland and McPherson.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Roman was a second-team all-district lineman for the Chiefs last season.

Running back Izaiah Rios, who was the District 3-4A Division I Co-MVP, received his first college offer Monday from Schreiner University in Kerrville.

Rios may not have prototypical college size at 5-foot-9, 185 pounds, but he was Lake View’s biggest playmaker last season.

He had 161 carries for 1,500 yards and 19 TDs, averaging 9.3 yards per carry. He also had 35 catches for 355 yards and three TDs.

On special teams, he had a kickoff return for a score and served as the Chiefs’ kicker.

Braylon White, a dynamic wide receiver and defensive back, also received his first offer Monday from Nelson University.

White had 66 catches for 882 yards and 13 TDs and earned first-team all-district honors on offense and defense.

Roman, Rios and White helped Lake View compile a 7-4 record last season for the Chiefs’ winningest season in 29 years. They also led the Chiefs’ offense to 43 points per game, making it one of the best in all of West Texas.

None of them have announced a college commitment yet.
