RICHARDSON, TX — Angelo State guard Majik Esquivel has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Rambelles extend their winning streak with a pair of road victories.
Esquivel, a sophomore from Lubbock, averaged 21.5 points per game while shooting 51.7% from the field. The honor marks the second time this season she has received the weekly award.
She scored 29 points against St. Edward’s, becoming one of three players in the conference to record multiple games of at least 29 points this season. For the week, Esquivel also totaled five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block, went 7-for-7 at the free-throw line and made six 3-pointers.
Angelo State returns home Thursday, Feb. 19, to host Lubbock Christian at the Junell Center–Stephens Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
