SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State Rambelles continued their late-season hot streak with a 65-58 win over No. 23-ranked Lubbock Christian on Thursday night at the Junell Center.
It was the night straight win for ASU, which has shaken off a 5-9 start to the season to climb into a tie for fourth place in the Lone Star Conference standings.
The Belles are now 14-9 overall and 12-5 in the LSC.
ASU took the lead for good at 39-38 with 2:18 left in the third quarter on a jumper by Taylor Grona.
The Belles led by as many as nine points before LCU rallied back to within one point in the final minutes.
After the Lady Chaps pulled within 59-58 with 2:21 remaining, the Belles closed the game on a 6-0 run to seal the win.
Majik Esquivel had a game-high 24 points, followed by Landry Morrow with 16 points and three steals. Grona added 12 points and six rebounds.
LCU fell to 20-6 overall and 12-5 in the LSC.
ASU will play its final home game at 1 p.m. Saturday against Midwestern State (7-16, 4-13). The Belles will then close the regular season with back-to-back road games at No. 8 West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico next weekend.
The LSC Tournament will be held March 6-8 in Frisco.
