AUSTIN, TX — San Angelo Central’s Elsa Reel finished her high school career with a pair of impressive top-five finishes Saturday at the UIL Swimming & Diving Class 6A State Meet at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
Reel took fourth place in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2 minutes, 2.32 seconds.
She was 1.12 seconds away from a bronze medal and 2.11 seconds behind the winning time of Livi Roberts from Rockwall.
Reel then followed that up with another fourth-place showing in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:02.5, which set a new school record.
She was just .03 seconds away from a bronze medal in that race, and she was only 1.11 seconds off the winning time of Ella McWhorter from Keller.
Reel also broke the school record in the 200 individual medley on Friday with a time of 2:02.3.
It was Reel’s third appearance at the state meet after a career in which the senior broke numerous school records and left her mark as one of Central’s best swimmers ever.
