Angelo State's Esquivel Named LSC's OPOW for 2nd Straight Week

 

RICHARDSON, TX — The Lone Star Conference has named Angelo State’s Majik Esquivel Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week and the third time this season, the league announced Monday.

Esquivel, a sophomore from Lubbock, averaged 25 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists during an unbeaten week for the Rambelles against No. 23 Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State. She shot 53.5% from the field and went 8 for 8 at the free-throw line, adding one steal and one block.

In a 65-58 win over Lubbock Christian, Esquivel scored a game-high 24 points. She then dropped 26 points against Midwestern State. She has scored at least 20 points nine times this season.

Angelo State extended its winning streak to 10 games during the week.

Esquivel and the Rambelles close out the regular season on the road, beginning Thursday, Feb. 26, at nationally ranked West Texas A&M in Canyon. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
