WALL, TX — The Wall Lady Hawks debuted at No. 13 in Class 3A in the first state softball rankings of the season this week.
Wall, which has a record of 12-1, has won eight straight games heading into a matchup this afternoon with Anderson-Shiro at a tournament in Llano.
Wall’s only loss was against Smithson Valley, which is ranked No. 12 in Class 5A.
The Lady Hawks’ most notable wins came against Floresville, which is ranked No. 18 in Class 4A, and Hawley, which is ranked No. 19 in the 1A/2A poll.
Wall opened play in the Llano Tournament on Thursday with a 2-1 win over Brownwood.
The Lady Hawks will begin district play at San Angelo TLCA on Tuesday, March 3. TLCA is off to an 8-2 start behind the play of standout junior pitcher Grace Roeder, who has already amassed more than 100 strikeouts this season.
Clyde (9-0) has the top spot in the 3A rankings, highlighted by a 7-0 win over three-time defending state champion Coahoma (5-1), which is No. 4. Merkel (10-0) is ranked No. 2.
