Angelo State Track and Field Qualifies 11 to Indoor National Meet

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Angelo State track and field teams will send 11 athletes to the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships, which are set to begin on Friday, March 13, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

For the Rambelles, Lone Star Conference champion Kamryn Williams from Wall is the lone field athlete on either side, qualifying with a throw of 60 feet, 9.25 inches (18.52 meters) at the LSC Indoor Championships.

The women's 4x400m relay team of Shackelia Green (from Jamaica), Kylie Frush (Glen Rose), Keagan Galmor (Lubbock-Cooper), and Lainey Jernigan (Goldthwaite) qualified after running a 3:43.53 in the event last weekend.

For the ninth-ranked Rams, William Opare (Ghana), the LSC champion in the 200- and 400-meter dashes, qualified for both events at nationals. He ranks second in the country in both events.

Opare will also compete in the 4x400 relay with Jahleel Armstrong (Barbados), Francis Patanpatan (Hawley), and Bautista Diamante (Argentina). The Rams rank second in the country in the event.

Lamont Reed (Killeen Shoemaker) qualified for the 200-meter dash after running a 21.07 at the LSC Championships. Rami Balti (Tuisia) will run in the 400-meter dash following his 46.55 time last weekend.
