No. 11 Wall Too Much for TLCA San Angelo

WALL, TX — The No. 11 Wall Lady Hawks proved to be too much for TLCA San Angelo in Wall on Thursday evening. After moving locations due to the rain earlier this week, the Lady Hawks took advantage of a big 3rd inning to claim a run-rule victory, 14-2.

The Lady Eagles took the lead early after two shutout innings from Grace Roeder. In the top of the 3rd inning, Alexa Pena and Roeder crossed home plate to put TLCA San Angelo up 2-0.

"We had a little bit of a slow start, but we kept going, and things finally started to click," Wall's Head Coach Allyson Seider said after the win. "We finally started to put it together at the plate and hit the ball."

However, defensive errors and timely hits from the Lady Hawks saw Wall explode in the bottom of the 3rd inning. The Lady Eagles managed to put up two quick outs before the floodgates opened. A triple from Jordan Chitsey and a double from Madi Williams were the highlights of the inning, driving in five total runs. Single hits and errors would allow the Lady Hawks to score several more before the inning came to an end. Wall would score 10 runs in the 3rd to lead 10-2, headed to the 4th inning.

After a quick three-up and three-down, Shyanne Floyd would hit a triple to drive in three runs. With the bases loaded, Floyd was mere feet away from a grand slam, but her power shot hit the wall. The Lady Hawks scored 4 in the 4th to put Wall up 14-2 headed to the 5th inning.

After Williams handled the final three outs, Wall claimed victory, 14-2.

TLCA's Roeder continues to be one of the bright spots for the Lady Eagles this season. When she is in the circle, TLCA always has a chance to win. Even in Thursday's lopsided loss, Roeder only allowed five of the 14 earned runs in the ballgame. She finished her afternoon with seven strikeouts.

Williams received the win for her performance inside the circle for the Lady Hawks. She finished her outing with five innings pitched, allowed two hits, zero earned runs, three walks and 10 strikeouts.

Next up, the Lady Hawks host another district matchup, this time against Sweetwater. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
