No. 10 Angelo State Returns Home to Host UT Dallas

 

SAN ANGELO — Angelo State returns to Mayer Field on Friday evening for a Lone Star Conference doubleheader against UT Dallas, marking the first matchup between the two programs.

First pitch is set for 5 p.m., with the start time pushed back from its original schedule.

Last time out, the Rambelles completed a 3-1 weekend road trip through Oklahoma. Angelo State swept a doubleheader at Cameron, winning 6-4 in nine innings and 3-1, before splitting with No. 12 Oklahoma Christian. The Rambelles fell 9-2 in the opener but rebounded with a 5-4 victory in game two.

Scouting Report: UT Dallas

UT Dallas enters the weekend at 5-11 overall and 3-9 in conference play. The Comets are 2-2 in road contests this season.

Offensively, UT Dallas is batting .323 as a team and averaging 6.2 runs per game. Julia Maniscalco leads the lineup with a .389 batting average and a .540 on-base percentage, along with 10 RBIs. Rachel Wallace has hit a team-best two home runs.

In the circle, the Comets carry a 5.31 ERA and have struck out 72 batters in 102 innings. Opponents are hitting .356 against them. Mere Cavazos leads the staff with a 5.31 ERA, while Allison Koch has recorded 22 strikeouts in 28 innings.

This is the first-ever matchup between the Rambelles and the Comets, who are in their second season of transition from Division III to Division II.
