Brady’s Reed Takes 2nd at State Powerlifting Meet

 

EDINBURG, TX — Brady’s Samerra Reed took second place in her weight class Thursday to lead the Concho Valley’s showing at the Class 3A Division II state powerlifting meet at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg.

Reed lifted 425 pounds in the squat, 235 pounds in the bench press and 385 pounds in the deadlift for a total of 1,045 pounds.

Other top 10 finishes from area athletes included Grape Creek’s Abigail Rodriguez and Nevaeh Snow, who were ninth and 10th, respectively, in their weight classes.

Coahoma’s Esela Vasquez was ninth, while Grape Creek’s Sierra Zieggler and Brady’s Jordyn Werner were each 14th.

The 3A Division I state meet will be held later today, while the 4A D-I and D-II meets will be held Friday, followed by the 5A D-I and D-II meets Saturday.
