LOUISVILLE, KY — Angelo State freshman Zoey Sifuentes has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year Watchlist, the organization announced.
Sifuentes is one of 15 selections from the South Central Region and among 118 players nationwide recognized on this year’s watchlist. She is also one of three freshmen from the region included.
A native of Lamesa, Sifuentes has emerged as a key contributor in the Rambelles’ lineup, batting .438 with seven home runs and a .819 slugging percentage.
The kinesiology major leads all Division II freshmen with 15 doubles and 42 RBIs, with both totals ranking among the top 10 nationally.
Sifuentes has earned Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Week honors three times this season.
The NFCA will announce its Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year on May 27, the day before the start of the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Sifuentes and Angelo State are scheduled to play UT Permian Basin this week.
