SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State softball’s freshman sensation, Zoey Sifuentes, has been named one of the top 11 bats to watch in Division II by NCAA.com.
After signing out of the small town of Lamesa, Sifuentes has had a breakout season for the No. 13-ranked Rambelles, helping them to a 34-9 record.
The third baseman leads ASU in batting average (.451), home runs (9) and RBIs (61). She’s tops in the nation in Division II in RBIs and second-most among all players.
The NCAA.com article proclaimed Sifuentes should be a lock for Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year and a strong candidate for the nation’s top freshman award.
Sifuentes and the Belles are on the road this weekend with a doubleheader Friday at St. Edward’s, followed by a twinbill Sunday at St. Mary’s.
They’ll be at home for the final time next weekend when they host Lubbock Christian at 5 p.m. April 24 and Midwestern State at 1 p.m. April 26.
