Multiple Lake View Student-Athletes Sign to Play at Next Level

SAN ANGELO, TX — Seven student-athletes from Lake View High School took another step towards their dreams on Wednesday when each signed their letter of intent to continue their athletic careers at several different universities.

Baseball

The lone baseball signing of the day, Dillin Uranga, has decided to take his talents to Wayland Baptist next school year. The Chiefs had an up-and-down finish this past season, but Uranga proved that hard work and dedication to his craft can help achieve his dreams. Uranga was an overall utility player this season. Not only did he play out in the field, but he also had a couple of starts on the mound for the Chiefs. He was a dangerous base runner, leading the team with 12 stolen bases.

Dance

Jordin Bejil is a longtime member of the Chiefettes dance team and will continue on now as one of the Angelettes next school year. One of the few who earned a full-ride scholarship for dance, Bejil said that dancing has been her dream ever since she was a child.

"I decided to do dance ever since the Chiefettes came to my elementary school, Holiman," Bejil said. "I was in second grade when I saw them, and I instantly knew that I wanted to dance with that team when I got into high school."

Apparently, that was a smart move on her part because she was impressive enough to earn a full scholarship to dance with the Angelettes for the next four years.

Soccer

One of the most surprising signings on Wednesday was Lake View Soccer's Jeremy Zavala. He signed to go to school and play soccer overseas in Rome, Italy, at the Rome City Institute ETS. When asked, Zavala said he was nervous but excited to see what life would bring overseas.

"I'm feeling excited but scared at the same time," Zavala said. "This is a new challenge for me and I'm excited."

Zavala was one of the leaders on offense this season, leading the Chiefs with 28 goals. He also added 12 assists in a senior campaign that saw the Chiefs hoist another playoff trophy.

It was a big day for the Lake View athletics program. Rarely does San Angelo see this many athletes sign at once. The signing ceremony was proof of the hard work and dedication that coaches and student-athletes pour into athletics.

Then there was the Lake View football program. The Chiefs sent four players to different colleges this season after the winningest season in 29 years. Lake View finished with a 7-4 overall record and was one game out of first place in district play. Lake View lost in the opening round of the playoffs against Lampasas, but overall it was still an incredibly successful year for the Chiefs, who had finished 2-9 in 2024.

The four players who signed should be a surprise to absolutely no one as they anchored much of Lake View's success.

James Hogeda was a first-team all-district defensive lineman and also a state champion powerlifter.

Braylon White was a dangerous wide receiver with 66 catches for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was first-team all-district as a receiver and defensive back.

Izaiah Rios was the district's Co-MVP with 161 carries for 1,500 yards and 19 TDs, and 35 catches for 355 yards and three TDs.

Roman was an offensive lineman who earned second-team all-district honors and earned offers from six schools.

Each player credited their coaches and families for helping them get to this point and look forward to what they can do in the future.
