San Angelo Central’s Boyd Earns 8th Division I College Offer

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Central offensive lineman Ethan Boyd announced his eighth NCAA Division I college offer Wednesday, this one from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

UT Rio Grande Valley, located in Edinburg, revived its football program in 2024 after nearly 75 years. The Vaqueros were an impressive 9-3 last year in their first official season as an NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision team.

UT Rio Grande Valley competes in the Southland Conference with teams like Stephen F. Austin, Lamar and Incarnate Word.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Boyd has also received offers from North Texas, Oklahoma State, UTEP, Georgia State, Florida Atlantic, UTSA and Navy.

During his junior season last fall, Boyd helped the Bobcats go 8-4 and win their first playoff game since 2020.

Boyd, who was named a first-team All-District 2-6A selection, has started 22 straight games for Central since the start of his sophomore year.
