SAN ANGELO, TX — The Central Bobcats have finalized their 2026 football schedule for next fall.
The schedule includes seven of the same opponents from last year and three new ones.
For the third straight year, Central will open its season against its oldest rival, Abilene High. The Bobcats will host the Eagles on Friday, Aug. 28, at San Angelo Stadium.
Central will then travel for its first-ever game at Mansfield Lakeridge, a Class 6A team that went 9-3 last year and lost 30-28 to Odessa Permian in the second round of the playoffs.
Central will host another longtime rival, Abilene Cooper, in Week 3 before traveling to Andrews for a neutral-site meeting with El Paso Montwood.
The Bobcats will host Belton in Week 5 in a continuation of a series that began in 2022.
After a bye week, Central will close out its nondistrict schedule at Midland Greenwood, a Class 4A team that went 13-1 last year and reached the state quarterfinals.
Central begin play in District 2-6A at home against Midlane Lee on Oct. 16, travel to Odessa High on Oct. 23, host Midland High on Oct. 30 and travel to play Odessa Permian on Nov. 6 in the regular-season finale.
Four of the five teams in the district will make the playoffs.
Central went 8-4 last year and finished in third place in the district. The Bobcats then defeated El Paso Pebble Hills for their first playoff win since 2020.
Central’s season ended the next week in the area round against Southlake Carroll.
