Three ASU Rams Earn Academic All-District Honors

 

GREENWOOD, IN — Three members of the Angelo State baseball team earned Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators on Tuesday, recognizing their achievements on the field and in the classroom.

Austin Beck, Jude Stephens and Garrett Villa received the honor.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and meet participation requirements.

Beck, a redshirt senior pursuing his MBA, completed a standout 2026 season, batting .339 with a .449 on-base percentage and a .560 slugging percentage. The Allen native totaled 74 hits, including 30 extra-base hits, while driving in 62 runs and scoring 69 times. He also became the first player in NCAA Division II history to surpass 300 career runs scored and set a program single-season record with 50 stolen bases.

Stephens, a redshirt junior history major, posted a career-best season on the mound with 26 appearances and 31 innings pitched. The Cedar Park native struck out 27 batters and held opponents to a .266 batting average.

Villa, a senior accounting major, led the Rams with 29 appearances out of the bullpen. The La Porte native threw 37 innings, allowing 15 earned runs while striking out 26 and limiting opposing hitters to a .275 average.

Beck advances to the Academic All-America ballot, with selections scheduled to be announced June 23.
