Texas High School Football Coach, Wife Killed in Crash

EAST BERNARD, TX — East Bernard head football coach Jeremy Jenkins and his wife, Brandy, were killed in a vehicle crash Saturday night.

The crash occurred a little after 10 p.m. on State Highway 60 in Wharton County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A DPS investigation determined their 2025 Tesla Model Y was heading north on Highway 60 and approaching a curve when it went off the road and overturned.

Jenkins, 51, was heading into his third season with East Bernard after leading the Brahmas to the Class 3A Division II state semifinals last season.

His wife Brandy, 46, was a junior high school teacher.

East Bernard is a town of about 2,300 people located 55 miles southwest of Houston.

“East Bernard has always been a place where people show up for one another, and now is a time when that love and support are needed more than ever,” the school district stated.

Both educators were remembered as dedicated members of the school.

“(Jeremy Jenkins) watched film non-stop, coached up our kids in the most loving way, truly wanted what was best for all kids, challenged us to see things through a different lens, loved his fellow coaches, and was an ‘all in’ kind of man,” the district said.

“(Brandy Jenkins’) students loved her,” the district said. “Brandy loved the Brahmas, their three boys, Jeremy, all of the coaches, and her close circle of coaches’ wives.”

The couple leaves behind three sons — Tyson, Gage and Jake.

Jenkins previously coached at Tenaha, Mount Enterprise and Harmony. He led Harmony to the 3A Division II state semifinals in 2022 and previously worked as an assistant coach in Melissa and McKinney.
