GOODYEAR, AZ — The Angelo State University women's golf team sits in eighth place after the opening round of the RJGA Shootout at the Golf Club of Estrella on Monday.
The Rambelles shot a team score of 17-over par in the opening round, finishing the day ahead of Lone Star Conference opponents Western New Mexico, Lubbock Christian and Texas A&M-Kingsville in the 16-team field.
Ainsley Burns led Angelo State individually, shooting 3-over par to finish the round tied for 24th.
Addison Barber was close behind, shooting 4-over to sit tied for 28th. Barber recorded four birdies during the round, tying for the team lead.
Caitlin Vanderkruk and Kelsey Kline are tied for 35th after each shot 5-over. Kline matched Barber with four birdies during the opening round.
Bao Nghi Than and Kara Knight rounded out the Rambelles' lineup, with both tied for 47th after shooting 6-over.
Angelo State plays the final two rounds on Tuesday at the RJGA Shootout.
