HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Texans have added a former first-round pick to help out their receiving corps.
On Sunday, Oct. 11, the Arizona Cardinals traded former No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr. and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Houston Texans for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick. The trade comes on the heels of the Texans' first win of the season, a 26-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
Harrison Jr. was drafted in 2024 out of Ohio State. Since entering the NFL, his numbers have been underwhelming for a top-five pick. His rookie season, Harrison Jr. had 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns. Last season, he had 41 receptions on 73 targets for 608 yards and four scores.
Through four games this year, he has only five receptions for 85 yards and one TD.
Harrison Jr. is the son of former Indianapolis Colts star Marvin Harrison, who was one of the best receivers to play in the NFL.
Adding Harrison Jr. to the Texans just gives them more ammunition as they already have Nico Collins, making Harrison Jr. the clear-cut No. 2 on the team. Houston’s other receivers include Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel. At tight end, former Dallas Cowboy Dalton Schultz has continued to put up similarly solid numbers in Houston like he did in Dallas.
This season, however, Houston is 1-4 and needed to add something to give it a boost.
Up next for the Texans is the division rival Jacksonville Jaguars, who just beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 19-17, in London.
