HOUSTON, TX — Devin Singletary scored on a 30-yard touchdown run in overtime Sunday, lifting the New York Giants to a 27-21 victory over the Houston Texans in overtime.
Giants' Cam Skattebo rushed for 124 yards on 17 carries, including a 42-yard run in overtime that set up Singletary's game-winning touchdown. He also scored on a 16-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The performance came two weeks after Skattebo lost a fumble in overtime during New York's 27-27 tie with Washington. He did not receive a carry in the Giants' following game.
The Giants improved to 4-2-1, while Houston fell to 2-5.
Giants quarterback J.J. McCarthy completed 20 of 28 passes for 252 yards in his first start of the season after Giants coach John Harbaugh benched Jameis Winston.
Houston received the opening possession in overtime but went three-and-out, giving New York an opportunity to win. Skattebo's 42-yard run moved the Giants into scoring position before Singletary ended the game.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud threw two touchdown passes but finished with a season-low 153 passing yards as Houston struggled offensively throughout the second half.
The Texans punted on their first three possessions after halftime before Stroud connected with Xavier Hutchinson for a 3-yard touchdown with less than a minute remaining in regulation, tying the game at 21.
New York was unable to reach field-goal range before time expired.
The Giants had taken a 21-14 lead earlier in the fourth quarter when Skattebo broke multiple tackles on a 16-yard touchdown run with about nine minutes remaining.
Houston's defense allowed a season-high 188 rushing yards.
Houston opened the scoring with a field goal from Ka'imi Fairbairn before New York answered with a 2-yard touchdown run by Tyrone Tracy Jr., set up by a 42-yard reception from Malik Nabers.
Fairbairn connected on a 57-yard field goal in the second quarter to cut the Giants' lead to 7-6.
New York extended its advantage when Winston scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with about 3 1/2 minutes remaining before halftime.
Stroud answered with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Harrison Jr. with approximately 30 seconds left in the half. Cade Stover caught the ensuing 2-point conversion to tie the game at 14.
Harrison's touchdown came in his second game with Houston after being acquired in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals.
Giants kicker Dominic Zvada missed two field-goal attempts in the first half, from 56 and 44 yards.
The game also marked the return of Texans wide receiver Tank Dell, who had missed nearly two years while recovering from a severe knee injury.
Dell caught one pass for 43 yards and returned a punt for 14 yards in his first game since December 2024.
Houston wide receiver Jaylin Noel left the game in the fourth quarter with a toe injury.
Both teams have a bye next week. The Texans will visit the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 8, while the Giants will travel to face the Philadelphia Eagles.
