WATCH: HC Slaughter Speaks on Pivotal Matchup with Coahoma
WALL, TX — The No. 2 Wall Hawks hit the road to Coahoma this week for a pivotal district matchup against the Coahoma Bulldogs (6-1, 1-0) that might have district championship implications on the line.
After the Hawks dismantled Merkel 63-13 last week, Wall took another step in cementing itself as the shoo-in favorites for district champions. However, Coahoma also took care of Grape Creek last weekend. The Bulldogs won a back-and-forth matchup against a scrappy Eagles' squad to also move to 1-0 in district. Wall faces an excellent opportunity to take full control of the district on Friday night.
Leading the charge on offense will once again be Landon York. Last week, the young man put on a show for the Wall fans against Merkel. He finished with 384 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception. Expect to see more of the same from York tonight.
On defense, San Angelo LIVE! featured two young men on the defensive line. Koen Braden and Dylan Sellars anchor the defense that will have their hands full against a Coahoma offense that knows how to score points.
While Wall might be the heavy favorite in this matchup, Coahoma is far from a pushover. The Bulldogs have quietly put together a very successful resume with wins over teams like Albany and Roscoe, and they have only recorded a loss to a Littlefield team that advanced deep into the playoffs a season ago.
Wall needs to start fast and claim a dominant victory to keep the momentum rolling into the later parts of the 2025 football season.
Kickoff in Friday night's matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Coahoma.
