Angelo State Belles Hit the Road to Oklahoma

SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State will look to rebound from a narrow loss to a top-five opponent as the Rambelles head to Oklahoma this week for a pair of Lone Star Conference road games. ASU faces Cameron on Thursday before meeting Oklahoma Christian on Saturday.

Angelo State is coming off a competitive 71–65 loss to No. 3 Texas Woman’s on Jan. 4, a game that featured nine lead changes and eight ties. The Rambelles led for 18 minutes and shot 39.6% from the field and 46.2% from 3-point range.

Majik Esquivel delivered a standout performance, scoring a game-high 26 points on six 3-pointers while adding four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

CAMERON

Last meeting: Dec. 16, 2024 — ASU 73, Cameron 70 (Lawton)

Angelo State edged Cameron last season behind double-doubles from Keniah Williams and Addy Burns. The Rambelles shot 41% from the floor and went 15-for-17 at the free-throw line.

Cameron (0-13, 0-5 LSC) enters the week still searching for its first win but is coming off a competitive 80-76 loss to Texas A&M International — its closest game of the season.

The Aggies average 56.8 points per game while shooting 34.3% from the floor and 31.3% from deep. Madison Griggs leads the Lone Star Conference in scoring at 19.2 points per game. Defensively, Cameron allows 78.4 points per game and gives up 42.1% shooting. Ayonna Cooper leads the team with 5.5 rebounds per game.

Oklahoma Christian

Last meeting: Dec. 16, 2024 — ASU 81, Oklahoma Christian 78 (OT)

The Rambelles needed overtime to defeat the Eagles last season, with Burns scoring 22 points and five ASU players finishing in double figures.

Oklahoma Christian (5-8, 1-5 LSC) is coming off a 65-61 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Eagles average 64.9 points per game and shoot 40.5% from the field but only 27.6% from 3-point range. Taylor Jackson leads the team with 13.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, followed by Kenzie Willis at 10.4 points per game.

OC allows 62.1 points per game and holds opponents to 37.8% shooting.
