BREAKING: 'Significant' Earthquake Strikes Near Pecos Wednesday

 

PECOS, TX — A significant Earthquake stuck 28 miles from Pecos Wednesday afternoon sending shockwaves across social media.

A shallow magnitude 5.3 earthquake at a depth of 5.5 miles. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, at 3:32 pm local time. Reported shaking occurred 10.9 miles northwest of Alpine, Tx.

The exact epicenter, depth, and magnitude may be revised later. Anyone closer to the epicenter might have felt some slight shaking or horizontal movement. No serious structural damage is expected. Falling objects or broken windows should be the extent of the damage. 

Other agencies reporting the same quake include the German Research Centre for Geosciences at magnitude 5.3, France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique at magnitude 5.2, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre at magnitude 5.3.
