Earthquake Rattles Midland Area

 

MIDLAND – A moderate earthquake shook the Tall City Thursday night as the USGS is reporting a 3.1 temblor southeast of Midland.

The quake was 5.5 miles south-southeast of Midland around 8:35 p.m. Thursday night. Reports showed the epicenter at a depth of less than 1 mile.

The quake is the seventh in the last seven days around Midland, Stanton and Lamesa, according to earthquaketrack.com. The last quake closer to Midland happened Sept. 1. That 2.8-magnitude earthquake was centered southeast of Midland.
