Abilene Man Killed in Boating Accident at Possum Kingdom

POSSUM KINGDOM LAKE, TX — A 23-year-old Abilene man was killed Friday after he was struck by a boat propeller while tubing on Possum Kingdom Lake.

According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the man was being pulled behind the boat when the accident occurred. There were three people on the vessel at the time.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The boat operator has been identified as Justin Pillard, 21, of Abilene.

Pillard was booked into the Palo Pinto County Jail on Saturday on a charge of intoxication manslaughter. He was released from jail after posting a $30,000 bond.

Possum Kingdom State Park is located about 90 miles west of Fort Worth.
