Swarming Bees Send One Lubbock Woman to the Hospital

LUBBOCK, TX — A woman was hospitalized Thursday morning after a swarm of bees attacked multiple people and dogs at a residence in the 5600 block of FM 1585, according to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities received a call around 9:10 a.m. reporting multiple bee stings. Deputies from the Animal Control Division and the Lubbock Fire Department responded to the scene, where they discovered a large beehive inside the walls of the home.

Officials said the hive had been disturbed, triggering an aggressive swarm. Four residents were stung, and one adult female was transported to a local hospital with a possible allergic reaction.

Firefighters used water to suppress the airborne bees while a local beekeeper was contacted to help remove the hive from the home.

Authorities reminded residents to call pest control for insect infestations and urged anyone experiencing an allergic reaction to seek emergency medical assistance.
