WASHINGTON — U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded the lowest number of illegal border crossings in agency history for the second consecutive month in July 2025, with zero parole releases for the third month in a row.
CBP reported 24,628 total encounters nationwide in July, down 23% from the previous record low in June and 90% lower than July 2024. U.S. Border Patrol made 6,177 apprehensions nationwide, while southwest border apprehensions totaled 4,601 — both marking significant year-over-year declines. The agency also recorded the lowest single-day total in its history with 116 apprehensions on July 20.
In addition to enforcement actions, CBP seized 968 pounds of fentanyl in July, a 30% increase from June. Heroin seizures rose 86% and marijuana seizures increased 32%.
On the trade front, CBP processed $307 billion in imports during July and identified $30.4 billion in duties owed. From Jan. 20 through July 31, the agency collected $140.8 billion from tariffs, taxes and fees.
CBP officials attributed the statistics to ongoing enforcement measures and trade law implementation, including 25 presidential tariff actions.
