SAN ANGELO, TX – In news that may put a spring in the step of many a Texan, the Texas Two Step® jackpot for the Thursday, March 5 drawing has reached an estimated $2.4 million, the game’s biggest prize up for grabs since 2006.
If a player wins the jackpot on Thursday night, the prize would be the second-largest since the game launched in 2001.
Thursday’s Texas Two Step drawing will be the 10th in the current jackpot run since starting at an estimated $200,000 for the Feb. 2 drawing. Since then, no player has matched all four numbers plus the Bonus Ball.
Thursday’s draw will determine whether one or more winners will celebrate a near-record jackpot win – or whether the top prize will continue to grow.
“With the jackpot approaching an all-time high and tickets costing just $1 per Play, tonight’s Texas Two Step drawing is looking like an attractive prospect for our players,” said Courtney Arbour, executive director of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees the Texas Lottery. “We remind everyone who participates to play responsibly.”
The largest Texas Two Step jackpot in game history was a $2.9 million prize for the April 27, 2006 drawing, which was shared by three individuals. Two winning tickets were sold in Longview and the third was purchased in San Antonio. The last time Texas Two Step had a jackpot of more than $2 million was for the Oct. 12, 2023 drawing when it reached $2.25 million.
Two jackpot-winning tickets were sold for that drawing, with claimants from Garland and Houston sharing the prize. Hailed as the game that makes the most jackpot winners in Texas each year, Texas Two Step produced 38 jackpot winners in 2025. Those winners came from 29 jackpot wins, including nine that were shared by multiple winning tickets. Four won or shared a jackpot prize of $1.075 million or higher.
Texas Two Step jackpots start at $200,000, and the jackpot amount increases for the next drawing until there is a winner. For $1 per Play, players could win the jackpot by matching all four of the white ball numbers (1-35) and one red Bonus Ball number (1-35) to the numbers drawn. The game features overall odds of one in 32.4.
Texas Two Step drawings are broadcast on Mondays and Thursdays at 10:12 p.m. CT and tickets must be purchased by 10:02 p.m. CT. The retailer that sells a jackpot-winning Texas Two Step ticket may be eligible to receive a $5,000 bonus under the Texas Lottery’s Retailer Bonus Program.
