WATCH: Fort Worth Officers Save Infant Trapped Under Overturned Vehicle
FORT WORTH, TX — Two Fort Worth police officers are being praised for their life-saving actions after responding to a major crash that left a woman injured and an infant trapped beneath an overturned vehicle Thursday morning.
According to the Fort Worth Police Department, Sgt. R. Nichols and Officer E. Bounds were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. Oct. 23, 2025, to a wreck on Interstate 30 between Eastchase Parkway and Cooks Lane. The crash caused a female driver and her infant child to be ejected from the vehicle.
The infant was pinned under the overturned car and was unresponsive when officers arrived. With help from bystanders, the officers were able to free the child. Sgt. Nichols immediately began CPR, successfully reviving the infant before Fort Worth Fire Department crews arrived.
Both the woman and the infant were taken to a hospital in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery, police said.
The department commended Nichols and Bounds for their bravery and quick response, as well as citizens who assisted at the scene.
