Drunk Driver Killed After Running Away Twice from Police

NEW BRAUNFELS, TX -- A high-speed chase in New Braunfels, TX ended with the death of a drunk driver late Sunday night.

Around 11:00 p.m. New Braunfels Police Department police officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Gruene Rd for reports of an intoxicated suspect who was threatening employees.

According to NBPD, an off-duty police officer who was working security in the area attempted to approach Ryan Patrick Ingle, 45.

Ingles then ran off and got into his Toyota Tacoma parked in a nearby parking lot.

Officers stated the off-duty officer attempted to stop Ingle but he sped away from the scene and nearly struck the officer and several bystanders.

After losing sight of Ingle, officers eventually located him outside an apartment complex inside his truck.

Ingle refused to get out of the truck and once again drove away from officers, nearly hitting them.

Ingle began driving southbound on Loop 337 when he was struck by a white Chevrolet Camero at an intersection. The crashed caused Ingle's truck to roll over and ejected him in the process.

Officers and paramedics attempted to provide life-saving measures, but Ingle died at the scene.

The 19-year-old driver of the Camaro was not injured in the crash.
